dear friends,
A moment I captured on my 2019 trip back to Hong Kong that still make me a little emotional. This trip was a significant one which surpassed my idealistic understanding of what family meant to me. It was heart breaking to see my grandparents grow old but I wouldn’t trade anything to have shared those hand holding, tear filled moments with them. The time spent having deep and personal conversations with my aunts, uncles, cousins created a sense of bond and closeness I have never felt. A group of people who love and care for me considering how little contact we had throughout my lifetime is truly eye opening and heartwarming. Time was very limited to make the most out of this trip but I am so glad I was able to connect with each one of them. This is something so valuable and precious that can not be experienced again so easily. What makes this moment so memorable was because I had one hour to see this city and reflect about this home away from home. To see things in perspective I was able to face conflicted moments I feared from the past present and future of my relationship with my family and what this city meant to me. Nevertheless I was blessed that I was able to experience this moment of bliss. This trip was an unforgettable one full of highs and lows. This was one of the highs ⛰
love,
nasya
